Short Term Accommodation (STA) with Empowered Pathways offers a safe and supportive place to stay when you need time away from your usual living environment. This might be for a short break, to give your usual carers some respite, or to experience something new while working towards your personal goals.

Our team works closely with participants, families, and support coordinators to ensure every STA stay is tailored to the individual. We focus on creating a positive experience that supports independence, wellbeing, and connection with the community.

Short term accommodation (STA) – Frequently asked questions

What is Short Term Accommodation (STA)?

Short Term Accommodation is temporary accommodation and support funded through the NDIS. It allows participants to stay somewhere other than their usual home for a short period while receiving the support they need.

Yes. STA is typically funded under the Core Supports budget in an NDIS plan. It usually covers accommodation, meals, and support during the stay.

Support can include accommodation, personal care, meals, assistance with daily living, and access to social or community activities. The type of support provided will depend on the participant’s individual needs and NDIS plan.

STA can include respite. Respite focuses on providing a break for carers, while STA also creates opportunities for participants to experience new environments, develop skills, and build independence.

NDIS funding typically allows up to 28 days of STA per year, which can be taken in blocks or spread across the year depending on the participant’s plan.

If you would like to discuss STA options with Empowered Pathways, our team is happy to talk through what support may suit your needs.
